TWO NEW DELEGATES ATTAIN CEDIA’S PRESTIGIOUS HOME CINEMA DESIGN CERTIFICATION STANDARD14th May, 2010CEDIA (the Custom Installation Design and Installation Association) has announced that two more designers have now successfully completed its Certification for Home Cinema Design Specialists examination as part of its ongoing Certification development programme.
The two delegates to have achieved this demanding Certification standard are Prestige Audio’s Bob Hobson and Phil Cotton from Finite Solutions. They join Phillip Warris from FAB AV, Carl Ambrus and Daniel Tumata of T&T Automation and Marcus Jackson Baker from What You See And Hear, as the only six professionals to hold this prestigious qualification.
Pre-qualification for the course required that all candidates already held CEDIA Designer Level 1 Certification. They were then obliged to take and pass an online test prior to being invited to take the examination. The certification was supported by four days worth of advanced courses that challenged delegates on a range of specialist skills including: advanced acoustics and home cinema acoustic design; advanced video technology and home cinema video system design and advanced home cinema room design. It ended with an advanced home cinema workshop, when the theory was given a hands-on, practical dimension. In addition, all candidates were given the new CEDIA recommended practices for home cinema design.
The invited candidates sat an examination that was structured into 12 hours over two days. The candidates work was judged according to a set of objective criteria by two independent panels of subject matter experts. One panel sat in the UK and one in the U.S.
