CEDIA BUILDS AUTOMATED HOME FEATURE AT GRAND DESIGNS LIVE FOR THE SECOND TIME 8th October, 2012
CEDIA is once again teaming up with Grand Designs Live 2012 (NEC Birmingham, 12th – 14th October) to showcase cutting edge home technology in the Automated Home feature at the Birmingham show, following its London event success!
CEDIA members, Brilliant Living, Halstead Technology, Perfect Integration and Adept IS are responsible for the design and installation of technology in the bathroom, kitchen, bedroom and living room areas of the home. CEDIA Trade Supplier members Amina, Agath, Control 4, Crestron, Future Automation, Habitech, Kaleidescape, Loewe, Lutron, Rako and Samsung are also supporting the feature which will be one of the highlights of the show, showing and informing visitors about how they can save time and money in their day-to-day chores and tasks in the home.
Brilliant Living will be designing, programming and installing the control system for the different aspects of the bathroom, using the Control 4 system, Lutron control lighting and Kaleidescape for movies and audio. Some of the most exciting features would be the integrated horizontal shower, stylish lifestyle wall mounted speakers and the Bathomatic automated bath.
Using Lutron Homeworks QS system, Halstead technologies will be managing the lighting throughout the whole home, along with the integration throughout the kitchen. On display will be colour changing lights, the height adjustable kitchen island worktop, the Velux roof window and blind and a Samsung Smart TV controlled by hand movements. The coffee machine fitted can be controlled through an iPhone or an iPad, and will remember the exact way you want your coffee.
Perfect Integration will demonstrate how discrete a home cinema/media room installation can be. With a plasma hidden behind a motorised picture, a drop down projector and screen and invisible, plaster-over speakers and in-wall subwoofer and the room will transform from a normal living room, into a media room and then into a cinema.
The bedroom will be automated by Adept IS and will reveal how a bedroom can be transformed from a day to night scene. With a controllable bed, light settings and blind control, this space will show exactly how to maximise the space in a bedroom through control.
“As well as getting smarter, home technology is becoming more affordable and accessible to the average homeowner than it has ever been before,” says Wendy Griffiths, Executive Director at CEDIA. “We are delighted that Grand Designs Live has worked with CEDIA and its members for a second time to develop the Automated Home feature. We are focused on growing consumer awareness of the benefits of home automation and this feature is set to attract thousands of visitors from the Grand Designs Live audience.”
The Automated Home will provide a contemporary blend of ideas, designs and innovations for every room in the home. It will include a robot that cleans your floor, a shower you can take lying down, a lounge immersed in water, glass which acts as a heating system and a TV which can be customised according to living room décor.
