CEDIA WORKS WITH RDI19th October, 2012
CEDIA is working closely with the Registered Digital Institute (RDI) to provide cross-membership support and new opportunities for members through marketing, membership development and training.
The Registered Digital Installer Licencing Body (RDI-LB) was originally created in 2005 as collaboration between industry, sector skills, further education bodies and government to help create a qualified, security checked, insured and safe digital TV installers as part of the Digital Switchover initiative. Today, the organisation has extended its reach to address a greater digital spectrum where traditional signal reception and electronic servicing skills form part of an increasingly broader picture, including for example, energy provision, security and IP connectivity.
CEDIA and the RDI will work together to give RDI members access to CEDIA education through reciprocal membership initiatives which will also allow CEDIA members to access RDI member benefits. The RDI will also recognise CEDIA Certification as an entry level qualification required as a condition of membership. The RDI has previously demanded level 2 NVQ as the minimum education requirement for membership. This is being extended to include a range of accredited e-learning and guided courses aimed at the broader digital sector.
These moves will help develop the skill sets of companies throughout the industry. They will also help both bodies provide the benefit of a qualified pathway for membership and give consumers access to skilled installers, no matter what their digital requirements.
“Working with relevant industry bodies to broaden our industry’s reach and grow opportunities for members is a clear objective for CEDIA, says Wendy Griffiths, CEDIA’s Executive Director. “The RDI is well-placed to help us deliver on these benefits. We very much look forward to working together”.
Martin Smith Registered Digital Institute CEO commented, “I am delighted at today’s announcement. We promised to develop the post digital switch over era for RDI members by stimulating interest in new innovative sectors of the digital market. Importantly, this initiative between ourselves and CEDIA is one of the first and provides an exciting environment for both organisations members, to gain wider recognition and access to new business opportunities”.
