Overview: 

CEDIA's Technical School is the second part of the City & Guilds Smart Home Technician accredited programme, and is essential for the ESC-T certification exam.

This course, combined with Boot camp, will cover almost the complete curriculum required for the CEDIA ESC-T Certification exam, as well as applying the theory to real-world situations. Practical sessions are included during the week where attendees will look at essential skills such as basic audio and video calibration and ADSL Router configuration.

Booking these four courses together gets you a reduced package price.

Day 1 – Project and Business Processes

Every installation requires planning as part of a wider project. An installation engineer should clearly understand their role in the wider aspects of the projects they are involved in. This allows engineers to plan their time, work with other team members and communicate in the most efficient way possible.

Day 2 - Basic Wired and Wireless Networking

IP networking is arguably the most important topic in the home technology industry. This course provides an introduction to the Internet Protocol (IP) and it's place in residential networks. This course provides an introduction to the Internet Protocol (IP) and it's place in residential networks.

Day 3 - Smart Home Control & Lighting Systems

Lighting systems and controlling the technology of a smart home is essential to bringing an installation alive, and is pivotal to the end user experience. Control of home technology systems by smart phones and tablets is now commonplace. These and other remote control devices serve to increase convenience, efficiency and ease of use.

Day 4 - Home Cinema and HD Video Distribution

Home Cinema and media room technology are among the most commonly requested systems for new smart home installations. Integrating audio, video and control system together into a home cinema environment, is a common task for smart home designers and installers. This course will explore the essential skills and requirements necessary for bringing audio, video and control systems together into a home cinema environment.

Entry requirements:

There are no formal entry requirements to attend this course, however, this programme is aimed at individuals with either some, or little industry experience who wish to get a thorough grounding of the engineering principles that form the foundations of the home technology industry.
