A stunning mews house in affluent Knightsbridge has been given a deluxe refit delivering the ultimate in luxury living, thanks to CEDIA members and custom install experts, KNEKTD.
The London-based installer’s challenge was to provide a completely integrated and concealed AV solution, which would be intuitive to use from day one, whilst simultaneously complementing the properties design proposition.
After careful consideration and planning, KNEKTD seamlessly integrated a Control4 system within the property, allowing the end user to control, monitor and manage multi-room audio and lighting capabilities, along with the HD matrix. This system is equally impressive as it is accessible to users with even the most minimal knowledge of home technology. The user friendly interface is easy to navigate and can be controlled via smart appliances such as smartphones and iPad’s. Various iPad minis and handheld remote controls have been placed around the property meaning the homeowners are never limited to access of the control system.
KNEKTD chose to use a Control4 home automation system to integrate the audio visual, lighting, door entry and opted for the Heatmiser App control for the heating and kept the AC on their own wireless remotes. Using Amina invisible speakers throughout the property and flush mount temperature sensors, KNEKTD managed to conceal all the thermostats in one location. With Rako intelligent lighting and a clever lighting design, the installers were able to control multiple circuits at any one time.
Lights, Camera, Action!
One of the most impressive features of the install is the contemporary cinema room which delivers a full cinematic experience from all angles.
The carefully considered kit included Sonance Cinema Series LCR speakers which were discreetly hidden behind the acoustically transparent fixed projector screen, two Sonance VP10 subwoofers and cleverly disguised rear speakers hidden within the rear wall. The cinema room also includes a drop down projector mechanism with a cutting edge 3D projector with an acoustically transparent 100” fixed projector screen creating a discreetly hidden Sonance 5.2 surround sound speaker system. The Control4 automation system was used to bring the system together so at the touch of a button, the lights dim and the projector drops for the perfect cinema experience.
In order to provide a working synergy of home technology with the interior design in the property, blind control and Rako lighting was integrated into the Control4 system, providing state-of-the-art digital dimming technology. This enabled different light settings to be selected and adapted to suit the needs of the homeowner. At the touch of a button, the end user can switch between ‘all on, ‘all off’ or additional customised settings to create the perfect ambience for any occasion.
The entire project, from the luxurious kitchen and living areas to the three stylish bedroom suites, represent a masterpiece in the highest level of quality custom installation.
“We are delighted with the end result from this project,” explains the property owner. “It has surpassed all our expectations and has made the property feel luxurious yet comfortable, offering a really intuitive, user-friendly experience whilst offering complete control.”
