French installer, MultiZone has installed a state-of-the-art home cinema in residential property in the town of Montpellier, France. The impeccably designed home cinema, complete with James Bond themed interior, met the client’s brief fully.
The client’s motivation was a dream of owning his very own cinema which would recreate the sensations of visiting a real movie theatre. One of the key success factors needed to be ease of use for the whole family, as well as reliability.
The creative inspiration and the visual look for the project came from the client’s tight brief: “My favourite colour is blue and my favourite films are James Bond.”
The room’s design is cleverly planned to deliver optimum acoustic quality. The first part of the room near the screen is absorbing, while the listening area of the room position is reflecting. The side walls have been covered with dark blue acoustic material on the front and complementing dark blue wood panels on the back, with a contrasting electric blue lighting theme. The ceiling is fitted with black acoustics slabs to maximise the sound quality.
The back wall is designed for a real ‘wow’ factor with a custom-made, giant JAMES BOND print made with stretched fabric, to leave no doubt that the room is licensed to thrill!
The bespoke carpet was especially designed with the iconic French cinema logo "GAUMONT" in blue to complement the striking décor.
The impactful lighting scheme is divided into four zones to set the mood and provide subtle effects, including blue side LEDs, front stage LEDs, a fibre optic ceiling light and light spots for definition. The lighting is controlled by an iPad mini.
The stunning seating area includes 2 rows of luxurious, reclining ivory leather, cinema-style seats. The back row includes three seats and at the front is a further row of four seats, providing ample and comfortable seating for all the client’s family and friends.
The JVC DLA X75 projector delivers a crystal clear picture on the Lumene 3 metre acoustic screen. Waterfall Audio was selected for the sound system, with Rotel products chosen for the preamp and the main amp, to maximise the dynamic of the sound. Two Yamaha Pro subwoofer speakers were also used for a stunning cinema sound.
Red Eye and an iPad mini are used to deliver total control of the whole room, including the varied lighting scenes. Three generations of the client’s family are now able to use the home cinema and find using the intuitive system as easy as watching a TV. In short, the guests are able to take advantage of the hi-tech facilities without any training or prior knowledge.
The client was delighted with the result and comments that the design made him and his wife feel “…proud to have the home of our dreams…..thanks to you (MultiZone) our house is fully equipped with the best picture and sound technology. We are real cinema lovers and the well-being provided by our Home Cinema is just amazing."
