CEDIA has announced that membership in Region 1 (UK, Europe, Russia and the CIS, Africa, Pakistan, India and the Middle East) has topped the 500 mark for the first time in the association’s history.

This milestone has been achieved with strong growth this year across the Region and in all CEDIA membership categories, including Home Technology Professionals, Trade Suppliers, Professional Services and Affiliates. Increasing membership is especially strong in the UK, the biggest single CI territory outside of North America, as well as key international markets, such as, France, Italy and South Africa, where CEDIA is also delivering active training and networking programmes as part of its international development strategy. In 2013 alone, over 100 companies have joined CEDIA, with the new online application procedure streamlining the process for many new members.

The growth in CEDIA Region 1 is part of a substantial global membership for the residential custom installation industry which currently stands at approximately 3500 companies.

“CEDIA’s growing international membership reflects an expanding market for residential custom installation and an appetite for the benefits and added value for businesses that CEDIA membership brings,” says Wendy Griffiths, CEDIA Region 1’s Executive Director. “We expect this trend to continue as CEDIA builds on its dynamic programme of international activities and look forward to representing the industry and meeting its needs as it evolves and prospers in the future.”

CEDIA offers members the opportunity to participate in a range of business-building marketing and training activities across Region 1. These include the industry leading CEDIA Awards scheme which rewards integration excellence in the work of CEDIA members. The Awards scheme generated a record-breaking number of entries, with over 160 submissions from 15 countries in 2013. CEDIA has also delivered training and networking events in Lyon in France, Rome in Italy, and in Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa this year, with the biggest ever CEDIA education programme ever taking place at Integrated Systems Europe in Amsterdam, The Netherlands during January 2013.

In the next four months, CEDIA will be running dedicated training at the Salon Hi-Fi event in Paris (28-29 September), MADE Expo in Milan (2-5 October) and at Integrated Systems Russia in Moscow (29-31 October) as well as a Connect with CEDIA networking events in London, 19th September, Milan, 14th November, and Mumbai, 11th December. Plans are also underway for CEDIA training to take place in India in December 2013. This programme runs alongside a full calendar of education and networking events for the UK, which includes the Smart Buildings Conference, taking place on 15 October in London, organised by Integrated Systems Events.
