CEDIA has reached a wide-ranging agreement with the Registered Digital Institute (RDI) which will see UK CEDIA Home Technology Professional members automatically become affiliate members of the RDI. Building on a relationship between the two bodies which started in October 2012, this new partnership will bring significant promotional and education advantages for the members of each organisation.
“We are delighted to strengthen our relationship with the RDI,” says Wendy Griffiths, CEDIA’s Executive Director. “Working together, we can help increase awareness of the services that our respective memberships can provide to the consumer. This agreement will also make it easier for both memberships to attend relevant training provided under the RDI or CEDIA education programme. We look forward to working closely on future marketing, education, industry and business development initiatives to build on this platform for the mutual benefit of both our memberships and the customers they serve.”
Mike Davies, the RDI’s CEO added, “We are really pleased to be able to announce this latest partnership with CEDIA. It has always been the long term strategy of the Institute to move into new and emerging markets, with CEDIA’s help and knowledge we look forward to adding to our portfolio of bespoke industry training courses. These courses will be aimed at providing RDI members with the custom install skills and expertise they need to diversify into this growing market.
He added; “We are also very pleased to be able to represent CEDIA members and take great pride in welcoming them to the institute. Through this new partnership CEDIA members can access the full benefits that RDI membership brings, we hope to be instrumental in helping to grow and develop new business opportunities through our sales channels on both our consumer and Institute websites to help grow new business opportunities.”
In this new reciprocal partnership, CEDIA members will join the RDI as ‘Home Technology’ professional affiliate members, and be listed on the RDI’s trade and consumer-facing websites, www.rdi-online.co.uk and www.getmedigital.com. Both RDI and CEDIA members will also be able to access discounted online and classroom-based training offered by their respective organisations at discounted member rates. CEDIA and the RDI have also agreed to collaborate on the development and promotion of standards, enhanced training services for members, events and exhibitions and other activities.
The RDI was originally created in 2005 to help create members who are qualified, security checked, insured and safe digital TV installers as part of the Digital Switchover initiative. Today, it represents member companies active across a greater digital spectrum where traditional signal reception and electronic servicing skills form part of an increasingly broader picture, including, for example, energy provision, security and IP connectivity.
