Who are you?
My name is Jaleel Sabir and I am the Managing Director of Mahavir Sound Room.
What’s your company and where is it based?
The company is called Mahavir Sound Room and we are based in Hyderabad, India. Catering to a very niche clientele, Mahavir Sound Room offers total integrated solutions in high-end automation, along with luxury home cinema and luxury gadgets. Designing the entire technology for luxury homes, we ensure that everything blends together, where the engineering complements the luxury! From secure world-class technology to products such as designer switches and keypads —everything translates as high-end and high-class. It’s all about holistic synchronicity.
How did you get into the industry?
Innovation has been my hobby since childhood, along with a passion for good music, and I managed to turn this into my profession. My experience now spans more the 25 years and I have been accredited by CEDIA, AVIXA, THX, ISF, Crestron, and DNP. My dream has been: “Creating an acoustic ambience that touches the soul!” I am an avid collector of design works by the world’s top designers. I have a passion for sourcing luxury brands from across the world and introducing them here. What’s more, I make them tech-friendly for the user. I have a great understanding of the Indian consumer. My designs are based on a simple philosophy: “Everybody in a home should be able to use the technology in their daily lives.”
What’s your favourite project and why?
My favourite project is a whole house AV and automation install in Bangalore, where the client gave us free rein and we integrated the technology with the design of the house.
Which home technology do you consider the most important today and why?
Smart home control is the most important technology today. As more and more devices in the house are becoming intelligent, it is important for us to be able to provide a smart way to control these systems with proper logic.
What’s the biggest issue for home technology businesses today and how can they deal with it?
The biggest challenge, I feel, with home technology today is that there are a lot of start-up companies with lot of cheaper products and most of them have their own closed protocols, so it becomes very difficult to integrate them on the same platform. Like KNX, we should have a common platform for technology to work seamlessly.
If there was one thing you could change in the industry what would it be?
I would like to see one single platform made for all devices to talk to each other.
How long have you been a CEDIA member?
We have been a CEDIA member for more than 10 years.
