Four luxury properties, situated just steps from London’s affluent Kensington High Street, have been customised with a fully integrated, simple, yet stylish home automation system for the ultimate convenience in luxury living, thanks to CEDIA members and Custom Install experts, Aonyx.

Property Developer, Howarth Homes PLC began work on four luxury mews town houses, with the intention of including a bespoke but easy-to-use home automation package to each property. Famous for constructing homes that are built to exacting, high standards, Howarth Homes PLC made initial contact with Aonyx in at the beginning phase of development. Aonyx was provided with the brief to add a full, custom install that would be intuitive to use from day one, whilst simultaneously complementing the properties design proposition.

After careful consideration and planning, Aonyx derived a proposal which incorporated all aspects of lighting, AV and HVAC into one intelligent control system. The forward thinking installers also ensured its specified system would allow for the prospective purchaser to follow an upgrade path should they wish for a more advanced system in the future.

Seamlessly integrated within each property is a Control4 system which allows the end-user to control, monitor and manage multi-room audio and lighting capabilities, along with the HD matrix specified by Aonyx. This system is equally impressive as it is accessible to users with even the most minimal knowledge of home technology. Control4’s user friendly interface is easy to navigate and can be controlled via smart appliances such as smartphones and iPad’s. Various iPad mini’s and Control4’s SR250 handheld remote controls have been placed around the property meaning the homeowners are never limited to access of the control system.

In order to provide a working synergy of home technology with the interior design in each home, blind control and Rako lighting was integrated into the Control4 system, providing state of the art digital dimming technology. This enabled different light settings to be selected and adapted to suit the needs of the homeowner. At the touch of a button, the end user can switch between ‘all on, ‘all off’ or additional customised settings to create the perfect ambience for any occasion.

“There are so many intelligent home automation solutions available today, but the pairing of Control4 and Rako for this project highlighted the collaboration between these two manufacturers and how well technologies can work together if programmed properly,” explains Richard Reid, Managing Director at Aonyx. “We are extremely proud of this project and it was a pleasure working with Howarth Homes.”

With the design of each house playing an integral part in the specification and installation of the custom install equipment, it was imperative for all source equipment to be housed centrally. Space was at a premium, challenging Aonyx with the positioning of the AV rack.

Working closely with Howarth Homes, an area within each garage was carefully designed to effectively house the rack without fear of the equipment overheating or getting too cold, whilst avoiding the disruption of car parking.

Aonyx is skilled in Audio Visual and Home Automation design and installation for property developers, architects and interior designers in London and abroad. Previous project experience ranges from mews houses to mansions, airports to skyscrapers and super-yachts to apartment blocks.
