As part of its drive to improve energy efficiency in homes and reduce carbon emissions, the Government, through HMRC, is now offering reduced VAT at just 5% on the supply and installation of home heating controls.

“A growing number of residential custom installers are integrating heating controls within the systems they provide their customers,” says CEDIA’s Executive Director, Wendy Griffiths. “A reduction in VAT will help reduce the price of the overall project and act as a further incentive for installers to fit this type of technology.”

This initiative covers central heating and hot water system controls, including manual or electronic timers, thermostats, mechanical or electronic valves, such as thermostatic radiator valves.
